Elizabethtown College’s 122nd commencement ceremony
On Saturday, May 10, Elizabethtown College will host its 122nd Commencement ceremony, where over 500 graduates will proudly cross the stage, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey. This year’s graduating class is not just a collection of individuals; they represent a vibrant community of more than 24,000 alumni who have walked the same path and now form a powerful network of support and inspiration. The spirit of Educate for Service resonates deeply within these graduates, many of whom have taken on leadership roles during their time at the college, making lasting contributions to the Etown community.
Spotlight on Ryan Ramler
Among the graduates is Ryan Ramler, a Psychology major from Montgomery Township, Pennsylvania. Ryan has made the most of his time at Etown, becoming actively involved in various campus organizations, including serving as a Peer Mentor, being a part of the Lighthouse leadership team, and working at the Career Development Center. His participation in the Etown Run Club and the Summer Creative Arts and Research Program (SCARP) showcases his commitment to both personal growth and community engagement.
Why Ryan chose Elizabethtown College
When asked about his decision to attend Etown, Ryan shared, “I loved the beautiful campus, the extensive options for clubs and organizations, and the close-knit relationships between faculty and students. The caring nature of the college’s environment made it feel like home for me over the past four years. This sense of belonging was ultimately what drove my choice to enroll here.” This sentiment reflects the values that many students find appealing about the college.
The campus community and cherished traditions
Ryan also expressed his fondness for the community spirit at Etown. One of his favorite traditions is the Blue Jay Walk, a unique event that marks the beginning of the academic year and fosters connections among new students. He enjoys working in various capacities on campus, whether in the peer mentor office, the Psychology department computer lab, or the library. Ryan appreciates the serene trails for running and the camaraderie of playing Kan Jam on Brinser Field, all of which highlight the vibrant campus life.
Future plans after graduation
After graduation, Ryan plans to continue his academic pursuits by enrolling at Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg for a Master of Science in Sport and Performance Psychology. His passion for psychology ignited during his freshman year when he took an introductory course with Dr. Liz Dalton, fueling his interest in understanding human behavior. Ryan is enthusiastic about merging his love for psychology with sports, as he believes this unique combination will enhance his career opportunities.
Advice for future Blue Jays
Ryan encourages future students to embrace the opportunities available at Etown: “Make sure you branch out. Getting to know people across different majors will expand your support network and help you form lasting friendships. The people here genuinely care about you, so don’t hesitate to broaden your family and connections.”
As the class of 2025 prepares to take the next steps in their lives, their stories reflect the values of community, service, and personal growth that are the hallmarks of the Elizabethtown College experience.
