The number of crackers consumed by Americans declined in 2016 from a year earlier, according to the latest data from Nielsen.
The number of Americans who report using crackers declined to 3.6 billion from 4.1 billion in 2015, according the Nielsen report.
However, the numbers also show that more Americans are eating more crackers per capita.
According to Nielsen, Americans ate 2.5 pounds of cracker per person in 2016, up from 1.9 pounds in 2015.
That translates to an average of 3.4 pounds per person per day.
